January 2008
Join in the New Year as Memorial begins 2008 with “A New Dawn!”
A small group known as the “Faith Force” has been meeting over the past several months in order to better understand where we are as a church family, and where God is leading us. One thing we know for sure is that Memorial is a community of faith where love and compassion are abundant--love for each other, and love for our Lord Jesus Christ. We have also learned that we are blessed with many in our family that continually work hard to carry out the programming and ministry of this church.
Our greatest desire is that Memorial will continue to build upon its rich tradition. We want to continue to grow in God’s grace, and spread His love in this place, in our community, and beyond.
We all remember the parable in the Gospel of Matthew of the wise man who built his house on the rock—the foundation was strong, and the house did not fall. In order for Memorial to remain healthy, vibrant, and to grow, each of us must have a strong foundation in Christ. The Faith Force believes developing a deeper relationship with God, each day, is a critical step in maintaining our spiritual health and our ability to be a viable part of the foundation of this church.
Kathy Albers, an elder with United Memorial Christian Church in Euless, Texas, shared an inspiring message with us on Sunday morning, January 13th that helped to set the stage for our emphasis on renewed spirituality. Many opportunities will be available throughout the coming weeks that will help each of us focus on the importance of maintaining a loving and active relationship with God.
We encourage everyone to actively participate in these upcoming activities during the coming weeks and months—your daily prayers and communion with God will be critical to the health of our congregation and the future success of ministry here at Memorial. We are confident you will be blessed as will Memorial Christian Church!
In Christ,
The Faith Force (Karna Brittain, Elwanna Collins, Diantha Dawkins, Jackie Forsyth, Peggy Jones, Kathy Landrum, Mike Landrum, Ric Sevcik, Gregg Groves, Rev. Terry Rothermich)
